Yamaha Music and wellness institute has done extensive research into Recreational Music Making & the Human Body. They give insight into the responces by the nervous system, the circulatory system, the endocrine system, the immune sysytem and the human Genome.
Their latest publication clearly took us back to our biological roots with technology never before available to the scientific community. Working with Applied Biosystems (the research firm that successfully deciphered the human genome) they demonstrated effective stress reversal on the DNA level. The study, published in Medical Science Monitor (2005), was the first of its kind in the field of molecular genomics.

Strengthens the Immune System
What do we mean it can strengthen the immune system? The study of 111 HealthRHYTHMS Group Empowerment Drumming participants showed a statistically significant increase in natural killer cell activity after a one-hour group session. Natural Killer cells (NK) are the white blood cells that seek out and destroy cancer and virally infected cells. Additionally, the protocol appears to reverse specific neuroendocrine and neuroimmune patterns of change associated with the classic stress response. Composite effects of group drumming music therapy on modulation of neuroendocrine-immune parameters in normal subjects.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11191041
Group drumming resulted in increased dehydroepiandrosterone-to-cortisol ratios, increased natural killer cell activity, and increased lymphokine-activated killer cell activity without alteration in plasma interleukin 2 or interferon-gamma, or in the Beck Anxiety Inventory and the Beck Depression Inventory II.
Recreational music-making modulates natural killer cell activity, cytokines, and mood states in corporate employees.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17261984
natural killer (NK) cell activity in the Recreational Music-Making (RMM) group increased among individuals with low pre-intervention levels, and decreased among those with high pre-intervention levels. A significant correlation was established between changes in NK cell activity and the changes in the level of gene expressions for interferon-gamma and interleukin-10. The RMM group demonstrated enhanced mood, lower gene expression levels of the stress-induced cytokine interleukin-10, and higher NK cell activity when compared to the control.
Ascension Beats

Binaural Beats is a complex and exact science of combining wavelengths in the brain to stimulate and coax an alternate state of being.
The binaural beat process can be used to stimulate altered states of consciousness by selecting binaural beat patterns to match a desired brainwave. After a few minutes of listening and calculating, the brain starts to match this binaural beat because of a process called frequency follow response (FFR). In reality, a binaural beat is not heard as true sound. It is more like a neurological signal perceived within the brain by both left and right hemispheres working together in unison to produce the phantom tone.
Brain entrainment refers to the brainwave response to repetitive sensory stimulation, like pulses of sound or light. When the brain is given a constant rhythmic stimulus, the brain will entrain by synchronizing brainwaves to that stimulus. This is called a Frequency-Following Response (FFR). Brainwaves and sound frequencies are measured in Hertz (Hz). If we stimulate the brain with precise frequency beating or pulses, we can produce a FFR in the brain. This can be used to exercise and train the brain according to the desired state of consciousness. This is a proven scientific process, reportedly measured with EEG machines. Binaural beats are one of the most common and powerful forms of brain entrainment, “bi” meaning two and “aural” meaning heard.
Music Therapy
http://www.stressfocus.com/glossary/music-therapy.htm
Music therapy refers to a branch of healthcare intended for aiding physical and emotional wellbeing with use of music. In simple words , it refers to treatment using music.
It is often combined with exercises. It is used in various healthcare environments. It has proven records of success to cure stress. Music therapy is also emerging as a promising field. It is evident from several studies that music has positive effect on mind and body.
More and more healthcare centers, infirmaries, hospitals etc have acknowledged the benefits of music therapy. The music therapists are in great demand in dispensaries treating cancer patients, children ADD and other patients. Many hospitals are using music therapy for pain management, depression control, to ease tension and calm the patients.
